LAHORE: An accountability court in Lahore has extended judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader, Aleem Khan, till April 20, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The court reprimanded the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over ‘very slow progress’ in the investigation of the assets beyond known sources’ case.

The court ordered the anti-corruption watchdog to conclude probe at earliest and submission of a final report in the next hearing.

On March 19, the former senior minister of Punjab, Aleem Khan, had filed bail petition in Lahore High Court (LHC) through his counsel Adnan Shujaa Butt.

According to the petition, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Aleem Khan over the charges of his offshore companies and assets beyond known sources of income.

The petitioner said that he has declared his all assets and the companies in his income statements.

Khan called all NAB charges including the misuse of authority as baseless.

The NAB has failed to prove any allegations against him, Aleem Khan said in his petition and pleaded to the court to order his release on bail.

The senior politician had been handed over to the NAB on 14-day judicial remand by the accountability court again on March 18 after approving another extension.
