Fakhar, Imam guides Pakistan to a second consecutive tour match win
Fakhar Zaman (101) and Imam-ul-Haq (71) drove Pakistan to a convincing eight-wicket victory over Northamptonshire on Monday.
Both the openers put 157 runs opening partnership on the scoreboard to help the men in green to mark their second consecutive tour match win.
While batting first, Northamptonshire scored 273 runs for the loss of six wickets in stipulated 50 overs. The hosts were not off to a good start after losing an early wicket but later on, J Cobb played a magnificent knock of 146 runs off 145 balls to help his team reach a modest total.
He batted aggressively to put pressure on the opponents while hitting 12 boundaries and six maximums. C Thurstan scored 25 off 33 balls while B Hultan made 27 runs hitting four boundaries.
Pakistani bowlers were up to the mark as they didn’t let the opponents free their arms. Amir, Junaid, Imad, Husnain, Yasir, and Haris bagged a wicket each.
In reply, Pakistan were off to a convincing start as both openers Imam and Fakhar started charging the bowlers from the very start.
Imam struck five boundaries and two sixes while Fakhar hit the ball 15 times to the boundary. His inning included just a six.
Babar Azam and Sarfraz Ahmed finished the job well for Pakistan as they both joined hands together to score 66 runs for the third wicket. Sarfraz promoted himself up and played sensibly by scoring 30 runs 0ff 34 balls.
Babar smashed 68 runs off 53 balls including five boundaries and three sixes.
N Buck and Holland were the only wicket-takers for Northamptonshire. They both shared a wicket each.
