‘We are trying to run the country with honesty’: Faisal Vawda

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said corruption and unemployment pushed the country’s economy towards this critical stage, ARY News reported Tuesday.

Sharing his views in the ARY News Programme ‘Power Play’, Vawda said the investment and economy would prosper under ‘ease of doing business’ strategy in Pakistan. Under this policy, the employment rate will increase manifold in just five weeks, he added.

He said it had become a habit among people to listen to negative news.

The minister said the elements of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were currently holding positions in institutions, and claimed that ‘those officers are sending wrong notices to people.’

Vawda said he gave the good news to people but  he ‘still became a subject of criticism.’

He reiterated that corruption led to massive increase in inflation. “The last government plunged Pakistan into debt of $37 billion in last five years,” he claimed.

Faisal Vawda said the incumbent government bearing the burden of debt left by the previous government.

“We are trying to run the country with honesty,” remarked the minister.

He underlined that the government had to pay Rs 157 billion under the charges of gas. He stated that the monthly electricity bill of Sheikh Rohail of PML-N was Rs 10,000, but now he was paying Rs 10 million under the same heads.

Vawda said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also explained in his presser today about theft of electricity in the country on a massive scale.
