Doctors perform successful weight-loss surgery on 200kg child in Lahore

LAHORE: Doctors on Tuesday performed the weight-reduction surgery on a 200 kilogram heavy child in Lahore, ARY News reported.

Doctors said through the surgery size of stomach of the 12-year-old Ibrar had been reduced. The doctors said gradually the child’s weight will reduce to 55 to 60 kilogram.

Dr Muaaz has borne expenditures of the Bariatric surgery.

The child has been discharged from the hospital after successful surgery.

Bariatric surgery includes a variety of procedures performed on obese people. Weight loss is achieved by reducing the size of the stomach with a gastric band or through removal of a portion of the stomach or by resecting and re-routing the small intestine to a small stomach pouch.

On April 19, a hybrid angiography of a minor girl was successfully conducted in Children Hospital Lahore.

The doctors had stitched hole in heart of the five-year-old girl without performing surgery on it, through hybrid angiography.

Previously, a bypass operation of children was carried out to stitch their hearts, however, Dr Masood Sadiq and his team had completed the operation without performing surgery.

A hybrid lab has been established at the Children Hospital Lahore for Rs100 million.
