ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday expressed condolence over the death of three soldiers of the Pakistan Army in an attack from across the Pak-Aghan border in the Alwara Mandai area of North Waziristan.

“My condolences & prayers go to the families of our 3 soldiers martyred while repulsing condemnable terrorist attack in Alwara area of N Waziristan,” the prime minister tweeted.

“We salute the bravery & sacrifices of our soldiers in combating terrorists.”

60-70 terrorists had carried out an attack on a team of the Pakistan Army soldiers busy in border fencing near Alora spot in the North Waziristan on Wednesday, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“Pakistan Army made an immediate response and repulsed the terrorists in retaliation which killed many of the terrorists,” the military’s media wing said.

The martyred soldiers include Lance Naik Ali, Lance Naik Nazir and Sepoy Imdadullah.

“Pakistan will continue the process of border fencing despite difficulties,” ISPR said.

“Pak Army has so far fenced more than 1,000 out of 2611 kilometres long area of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border,” the statement said.

The military’s media wing urged Afghan government to cooperate in border fencing against terrorists and take effective steps to stop the use of its soil against Pakistan.

In June last year, four Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in separate cross-border attacks on the troops busy fencing the Pak-Afghan frontier in North Waziristan.
