ISLAMABAD: The utility stores have enhanced the price of sugar and over 50 brands of general use items, ARY News reported on Thursday.

The utility stores have enhanced three rupees on per kilogram of sugar, from existing Rs. 69 per kilogram to 72 rupees, according to the report.

The utility stores, which provide basic commodities to the general public at subsidized rate, have increased prices of several general use items.

According to report, the prices of more than 50 brands of shampoo, soaps and creams have been enhanced upto 20 rupees at utility stores.

The price of a 50 milliliter jar of a face cream has been increased by 10 rupees, from Rs. 217 to 227 rupees, the report said.

Various brands’ soaps prices go up by one to two rupee.

The 400 ml bottle of a shampoo has been made 20 rupees expensive then its previous price, from Rs. 374 to 394 rupees, according to the report.

While the price of 200 ml bottle of a shampoo has been fixed 10 rupees above then the earlier rate, the report said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan is a state-owned enterprise that operates chain stores across the country to provide basic commodities to the general public at prices lower than the open market, because the government subsidizes them.
