PSF decides not to send team to World Squash Championship
Pakistan Squash Federation has decided not to send their team to compete in the World Squash Championship due to poor performances from the players over the previous year.
Pakistan have produced some of the best players in the history of the sport and they do not want to send their squad just for the sake of attendance. The national team stood at 21st place out of 23rd competitors in the previous edition of the tournament which took place in France.
“The final decision was taken by the PSF General Council not to send the team to the World Team Championship which will be held in December in the United States,” said a statement issued by PSF on Sunday. “Our players must understand that it is the matter of immense pride to represent Pakistan but it must he with dignity to add pride to our glorious past and not just show our attendance.”
The federation denied the rumours that they are not sending their squad for the championship due to financial constraints and stated that the forgettable show from players was the sole reason for the decision.
Moreover, the sport body is determined to raise the standard of the game in the country for which they are investing heavily on junior and senior players and holding competitive PSA tournaments.
