Rihanna stuns fans with surprise appearance at World Cup
The multi Grammy Award-winning singer Rihanna lent glitz and glamour to the World Cup on Monday as she made a surprise appearance in the north-east of England to cheer on West Indies at the Cricket World Cup.
Dressed in white and wearing sunglasses, the pop-idol was the center of attraction at Riverside Ground. The Barbados-born singer gave vocal support to the two-time champions, but unfortunately Sri Lanka crushed the Caribbean side by 23 runs.
Defeat meant the West Indies have flopped badly at the World Cup, lost seven matches in a row after starting the tournament with an impressive win over Pakistan.
“Look who came to #Rally with the #MenInMaroon today! Hey @rihanna!”, the West Indies Cricket tweeted on their official account.

The Barbadian singer’s interest in sport is evident as she had previously been seen cheering on PSG in Paris and at the 2014 World Cup.
Earlier during the Australia-England clash, the English singer Ed Sheeran was spotted at the Lord’s stadium cheering for the home team.
