‘I am absolutely ready and up for the task,’ new head coach Misbah

Pakistan cricket team’s new head coach, Misbah Ul Haq is honoured to be named as the head coach, while he also believes that it is a huge role to fulfill.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed the former skipper as the team’s head coach and the chairman of selectors, where the head coaches of the six first-class Cricket Association sides as his fellow selectors.
The PCB has given the responsibilities of the head coach and chief selector to Misbah for the next three years. Whereas, Waqar Younis has been appointed as the bowling coach.
“I know expectations are high, but I am absolutely ready and up for the task otherwise I would not have thrown my name in the hat for one of the most challenging and coveted roles in Pakistan cricket,” PCB quoted Misbah in the official press release.
The 45-year-old recognized talented players in the team, however, he believes that the mindset has to be changed and they will have to prepare in such a way that they can play ‘intelligently, smartly and fearlessly’.
“We have some of the most talented and exciting cricketers, and I will like to help them train and prepare in such a way that they can play intelligently, smartly and fearlessly,” he said. I am aware this will require a change in the dressing room culture but if we have to compete consistently at the highest level, we have to embrace these modern day requirements.”
Misbah is excited to have Pakistan’s former coach and fast bowling great, Waqar in his coaching staff as the bowling coach and feels that he is the best option to groom the modern day bowlers.
“I am excited to once again have someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Waqar Younis in my corner as a bowling coach. We have exciting young fast bowlers in our ranks and there is no better person than Waqar to transform them into modern day stars,” he said.
He also also thanked his family, friends, his former teammates, the PCB and his club as he is about to start his new career as a coach.
