PML-N member submits resolution to remove Sarfaraz from Captaincy

A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly to remove Sarfaraz Ahmed as a captain of Pakistan team after the men in green suffered a 3-0 whitewash in T20I series against Sri Lanka.

The resolution was submitted by Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s member Malik Zaheer Iqbal, which stated that Sarfaraz is not competent to lead the national side as he failed to perform his responsibility, therefore he should be immediately removed from captaincy and the team should be handed to a responsible and skilled player, who is capable enough to lead the team.

The resolution further demanded an investigation into Pakistan’s whitewash against an inexperienced side like Sri Lanka.

During the post match conference after losing the third T20, the skipper admitted that he is responsible for the team failure.

“When the team isn’t performing then the captain is responsible,” Sarfaraz said.

“We need to improve in all facets. If we keep dropping catches like this in the middle overs, we won’t be able to beat any team,” he added.

On the other hand, the head coach and the chief selector of the national team Misbah ul Haq conceded that the series’ one-sided loss is a wake up call for the whole team.

“This was an eye-opener for us and you as well. The way we go after the seniors, and what we did in the World Cup. We forget their performances,” said Misbah in a press conference at Lahore.
