Nathon Lyon slams Shane Warne’s call on resting him for SCG Test

Australian off-spinner Nathon Lyon has slammed former Australian legend Shane Warne over resting him or one of the pace bowlers to give young Mitchell Swepson a chance at the third Test at SCG against New Zealand.

“Did Warney ever want a rest and give Stuart MacGill a go? I won’t be resting,” Lyon said to the former leg-spinner.

Lyon has praised Swepson’s valuable performances in the Sheffield Shield matches for Queensland and also added that it is good to see a versatile squad for the last Test against New Zealand.

“Mitch has been bowling brilliantly for Queensland in the shield cricket. It is great we are able to have a very versatile squad for whatever conditions we are faced with, we can come up with a decent side.” Lyon said.

Swepson last toured India in 2017 where he couldn’t make his debut. He has picked 12 wickets in six Sheffield Shield matches at an average of 26.58.

Australia have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 against the Kiwis after winning the Perth and Melbourne Test at the three-match series.
