Lahore-born Qasim Akram targets to become best batsman

The 17-year-old Qasim Akram has aimed to become the batsman in the world by proving himself in the upcoming ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa later this month.

While talking about his journey and ambition in a video released by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Youtube he said.

“My father and brother do the work of second-hand clothes, I have faced many things until now in my life and it is a very proud moment for me and I won’t stop here,”

Lahore raised Qasim said how difficult it was for him to play cricket as there was no permission from the family.

“I used to go cricket academy where I can see the boys playing cricket as I was fascinated by the game too but there was no permission from my home but I used to play by hiding from my parents,” He added.

Qasim plans to give good performances in the junior side and make his way in the senior side.

He is happy to be guided by the great Ijaz Ahmed, the head coach of the Pakistan U-19 team.

“Our head coach Ijaz Ahmed, a legend of the game, playing under his mentorship is a big achievement for me,”

“My favorite batsmen are Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. Virat Kohli is a match-finisher, by copying him, I will try to play long innings that would benefit my side in the mega event,” He concluded.
