Head coach Dean Jones is impressed by Karachi Kings’ local players
Karachi: Dean Jones, the coach of the most followed franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings is impressed by local players’ talent and has also pinned hopes that they will make a big impact in PSL five.
In an interview with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s website, Dean expressed his trust in four local players which include Awais Zia, Arshad Iqbal, Umar Khan, and Usama Mir.
He is impressed by the way hard-hitting opening batsman Awais Zia plays and will be very important for Kings’ in the playing XI.
“Awais is a very exciting batsman with a good technique and base, his batting will be crucial for us when he finds a spot in the eleven,” he said.
The 58-year-old is also excited by the talent of right-arm medium pacer Arshad Iqbal, spinners Umar Khan and Usama Mir.
“Likewise, I am very impressed by Arshad, Umar, and Usama who are all talented and capable bowlers. Umar, I feel should be regularly playing first-class cricket too, he is one bowler who has a lot of potential,” he added.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the PSL is a big platform for youngsters to shine.”The PSL is a big platform for youngsters and I hope these players make the most of it.” he concluded.
It must be noted here that Kings will play their first match against Peshawar Zalmi on February 21 at National Stadium Karachi. The league’s first match will be played between defending champions Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United after a glittering opening ceremony.
