‘Feel very lucky to have Shaheen and Naseem in my team’ Azhar Ali

Derby: Test captain Azhar Ali has expressed his joy of having emerging pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shan in Pakistan’s squad on the tour of England.

While speaking in a podcast released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the 35-year-old further said that they have experienced pacers who will share their vast experience with youngsters.

“The way Naseem and Shaheen have bowled in the last three series so as a captain I feel very lucky to have them in my team,” he said.

The other best thing is that we have experience in the shape of Mohammad Abbas and Sohail Khan on this tour, which is an advantage for these youngsters,” he added.

Azhar concluded that batsmen and bowlers struggled initially due to the COVID-19 pandemic that caused a long break from cricket but now they are coming back to their rhythm.

“Batters are in good shape, their balance is great in the nets and in practice matches we played. At the start of the tour, we felt rustiness among players especially bowlers but gradually they are improving in their rhythm and workload.”

It must be noted here that Pakistan and England will play three Tests against England in a bio-secure environment. The Test series will be followed by the T20Is series consists of as many matches.
