Just-in: Independent adjudicator reduces Umar Akmal’s ban to 18 months
Lahore: Ex- Supreme Court judge Mr. Justice (retd) Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, in his capacity as an independent adjudicator has reduced batsman Umar Akmal’s ban to 18 months (1.5 years), ARY News reported.
Umar was initially banned by the Chairman of the Disciplinary Panel, Mr. Justice (retd) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan for three years after finding him guilty of breaching Article 2.4.4 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code in two separate incidents.
“I am not satisfied with the decision, I will now consult with my lawyers whether to appeal or not,” Umar said while talking to reporters.
The 30-year-old will now serve a ban of 1.5 years only. Umar had occupied the services Babar Awan law firm and challenged the punishment on May 19.
