Series against Pakistan ‘a tough challenge’, says Chris Woakes

Manchester: England’s fast bowler Chris Woakes has termed their upcoming Test series against Pakistan as a tough and competitive challenge.

“Pakistan are always a competitive team. They have got good experience and some exciting young players as they always do. Some exciting fast bowlers as well. We know they are going to be a tough challenge,” Woakes said while talking to the reporters.

“We have played them enough now, particularly in our home conditions, to know that they are always a challenge and competitive,” he added.

The bowling all-rounder was the hero of their last Test win against West Indies in Manchester where he claimed a fifer, insisted that he is happy to remain England’s unsung hero in presence of James Anderson and Stuart Broad and also selection does not bother him.

“I honestly really don’t mind. I’m not one for being the center of attention. I want to go out on the field and perform and I want to make match-winning performances for England but it really doesn’t bother me if I’m the first choice or not,” he maintained.

It must be noted here that Pakistan is scheduled to play three matches Test series against England from August 5. Later on, green shirts will lock horns with the home side in three T20Is.
