‘No fear of losing my place in the team’ Fakhar Zaman
Islamabad: Hard-hitting opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has no fear of losing his place after the induction of new players in the national team.
The competition is getting better after exceptional performances from youngsters in the recently concluded National T20 Cup. The 30-year-old Fakhar termed it as a ‘good sign’ for Pakistan cricket while talking to reporters in a virtual media conference.
“I have never thought of losing my place whether it’s domestic or international cricket. My aim has always been to give my best and I don’t have any tension on who is coming in the side and who is not,” Fakhar said.
“But it’s a great sign for our cricket that competition is getting higher and I hope more good players will come through the system and play for Pakistan,” he added.

The only batsman to score a double-century for green shirts in ODI cricket accepted that he hasn’t been consistent in recent times but his style of play demands to be aggressive and the graph of performance can decline.
“Yes, I haven’t been consistent but I have worked on myself during the lockdown and on the England tour. My role is to give a blazing start at the top as other batters’ role is to hold one end. So while taking the risk, there can be ups and downs,” he added.
“Coaching staff has been very supportive of me and I’ll try to overcome my failures and start getting consistent,” he maintained.
It must be noted that Fakhar was the leading run-getter in the National T20 Cup and was awarded as the best batsman and player of the tournament award.
His position in the ODI team is uncertain in the presence of Imam-ul-Haq and Abid Ali, however, he is Pakistan’s first choice in T20Is along with white-ball captain Babar Azam.
