Shaheen Shah to be monitored for 48 hours after helmet blow

Mount Maunganui: Pakistan’s Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will be closely monitored for the next 48 hours after getting hit on the helmet during the final day of the first Test against New Zealand.

Shaheen received a short ball from Kiwi pacer Neil Wagner which didn’t bounce according to his expectation and it struck around the back of Shaheen’s helmet while trying to duck.

A mandatory concussion test was performed after the incident on the field and the 20-year-old was cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical panel too.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan team will now travel to Christchurch tomorrow after a thrilling first Test in Mount Maunganui which the hosts won by 101 runs.

The visitors will practice in Christchurch on January 1 and 2 as the last Test in scheduled to start from January 3.
