After Shaheen, Abbas is also frustrated with dropped catches
Christchurch: Day 2 of the second Test against New Zealand was quite frustrating for Pakistan, yet again due to a couple of dropped chances.
Henry Nicholls, who remained not out for 89 on Day 2 alongside Kane Williamson (112*), was dropped at 86 by Rizwan off Shaheen Shah Afridi. However, he also got a life after getting out on a no-ball by Afridi.
Speaking in a video interview after a frustrating second day, Abbas said bowlers get demoralized when fielders drop catches that too on crucial moments.
“You get disappointed when your fielders drop catches and that too on crucial moments. It gets you demoralized and similarly, it is disappointing to take a wicket on a no-ball,” he said.
“Dropped catches hurt us in the last match and in this match too. We held them in the first two sessions quite well but later on lost the grip. Our prime target tomorrow will be to bowl them out as soon as possible,” he added.
It must be noted here that young pacer Afridi had also shown frustration over catches being dropped at crucial moments. Williamson was dropped twice in the first inning of the opening Test, later on, he scored his 23rd Test century.
New Zealand are leading the two-match Test series 1-0 after winning the opening game at Mount Maunganui.
