‘I accept this defeat, we need to improve a lot’ skipper Rizwan

Christchurch: Stand-in skipper Mohammad Rizwan took the responsibility for Pakistan’s poor performance in the Test series against New Zealand.

Sharing his thoughts on their performance after an inning defeat in the second Test, Rizwan said poor fielding hurt them a lot, and dropped catches reduced bowlers’ confidence and energy.

“We did poor fielding and it hurt a lot. We could have taken those dropped catches to somewhere change the scenario. Our bowlers created opportunities, New Zealand batters gave us chances but our fielders missed it,” he said.

“I accept we were not up to the mark. We need to improve all our departments and we have learned a lot here from our mistakes. We will try to come up strongly,” he added.

It must be noted here that Pakistan lost two-matches Test series 2-0 after losing the second Test by an inning and 176 runs.
