Jamieson bags 10 for match as NZ push Pakistan on verge of innings defeat

Christchurch: New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson looked unplayable as his second five-wicket haul of the second Test pushed Pakistan to the brink of an innings defeat.

The 26-year-old picked three of the four wickets to fall after lunch as Pakistan went to tea on day four at 134 for seven, needing a further 228 runs to complete New Zealand’s first innings total.

Jamieson became the first pacer to take 10 wickets in a Test at Hagley Oval as he had figures of 5/33 with 5/69 in the first innings.

The visitors resumed the day at 8/1 and needed better resistance by the batters to salvage a draw after day three’s humiliation.

Boult took the first wicket, dismissing nightwatchman Mohammad Abbas out for three in the fifth over.

Then Jamieson removed Abid Ali for 26 to go with his dismissal of Shan Masood the previous evening and Pakistan went to lunch at 69/3.

Jamieson dismissed Haris Sohail (15) and Azhar Ali (37) caught behind, and bowled Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan (10) to have the tourists at 98 for six.

Boult came back for his second wicket of the day when he dismissed Fawad Alam for 16, leaving Faheem Ashraf not out 21 and Zafar Gohar yet to score at tea.
