Bopara, Rutherford drive Peshawar Zalmi to 188-5

KARACHI: Ravi Bopara and Sherfane Rutherford drove Peshawar Zalmi to 188-5 in 20 overs against Karachi Kings in 13th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6. 

The duo partnered for the fifth wicket to score 82 runs together to rescue Zalmi after they lost a couple of early wickets.

Sent into bat first, Zalmi’s opener Kamran Akmal and Tom Cadmore scored 30 runs before Kamran fell to debutant Abbas Afridi. He scored 21 runs with the help of four boundaries.

Bopara and Rutherford took the charge completely and dominated opponent’s bowlers. Bopara remained not out for 58 runs laced with six boundaries and a six whereas Rutherford scored 46 with the help of three boundaries and as many sixes.

Amad Butt struck 26 runs in the last over with Daniel Christain conceding 32 runs in an over, the most expensive so far in PSL. Amad scored 27 runs spread over three boundaries and two sixes.

For Kings, Mohammad Ilyas and Abbas Afridi bagged two wickets each while Daniel Christian took a wicket.
