‘Had to change NWFC management after NC went out of contact’ Ashfaq-led PFF
KARACHI: Syed Ashfaq Hussain Shah-led Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s representative claimed that the FIFA-installed Normalisation Committee (NC) went out of contact since the other day.
Talking to ARY Sports, the representative said they were forced to change the ongoing National Women’s Football Championship (NWFC)’s management because nobody from the NC was in contact with them.
“We haven’t decided to cancel the championship,” he told. “Last night, PFF’s official social media handles posted that NWFC has been canceled and since then we are contacting them. We haven’t issued a single termination letter to the previous NC management, we wanted to work together to complete this championship but nobody picked up our calls,
“Thereafter, we were forced to appoint the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) just to run the tournament. We weren’t in favor of canceling the tournament at any point,” he added.
This PFF’s representative rubbished all the allegations put on them by Haroon Malik-led NC. “We haven’t tortured them or taken charge forcefully as already clarified by president Ashfaq Sahab. Congress, the higher authority in the PFF, directed us to take the charge formally and we did it,” he said while also sharing the videos of Haroon exiting the football house comfortably.
To a query about Pakistan once again on brink of international suspension by FIFA, this representative said their officials are dealing with this matter. “We are already suspended by FIFA internationally. FIFA-installed NC was failed to conduct elections in 19 months. How long we could rely on them? Every time they were asked about holding elections, they gave just excuses,” he shared.
“Neither FIFA nor AFC has so far reacted on this incident. Our officials are currently contacting FIFA in this regard and I hope things will be positive for Pakistan. At this point in time, our main focus is to complete NWFC and I assure you that everything will go on as per schedule,” he concluded.
Later on, this correspondent contacted NC’s representative to know their take on this issue but he didn’t respond.
