Athlete Najma Parveen finishes last in women’s 200m heat

Tokyo: Pakistan’s top athlete Najma Parveen finished last in women’s 200m heat at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The 31-year-old Najma ran in heat 2 of the event and came 7th. She recorded timing of 28.12 seconds. She was 2.88 seconds behind the athlete who finished at number 6 in the event.

It must be noted that Najma holds the national record of Women’s 200m at 23.69 seconds.

On the other hand, shooters Ghulam Bashir and Khalil Akhtar were also knocked out after failing to remain in top 6 in two stage of qualifiers.

GM Bashir finished sixth with score of 293 at the end of stage 1 of the qualifier on Sunday but he couldn’t replicate same and finished 10th position at the end of two-stage qualifier. He got 286 points to take his total points to 579.

Meanwhile, Khalil improved his place by one poistion and finished 15th. He scored 97, 94 and 95 in respective series in stage 2 to finish with 572 points.
