National Assembly members demand ‘change of POA’s leadership’

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Members raised concerns over Pakistan Olympics Association (POA)’s performance during the last 17 years under the leadership of Syed Arif Hassan.

In NA’s Standing Committee meeting, MNAs Mahboob Shah, Rubina Jamil, and Iqbal Mohammad Ali demanded the change in POA’s leadership.

“Why they are sitting there without any performance? Why President of Pakistan was removed as POA’s chairman?” Shah said in the meeting.

“POA’s current set-up is influential despite poor performance during the last 17 years. Pakistan hasn’t won a single medal in the last 17-18 years under their rule, they must be changed now,” the MNA suggested.

“POA’s management should be changed as they delivered nothing during their regime,” the female MNA Rubina said.

Senior politician and MNA Ali backed his fellow members of the assembly and asked the government to take action against the current POA management.

It must be noted here that POA came under criticism after Pakistan failed to bag even a single medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Pakistani raised questions on POA’s president and his team’s performance over the years.
