NZ head coach aware of ‘hyped up’ Pakistan clash in T20 World Cup

Karachi: New Zealand head coach Gary Stead is aware of the hype before Blackcaps’ clash against Pakistan in T20 World Cup next month.

New Zealand flew back from Pakistan on September 17 over a security threat and abandoned their tour of three ODIs and five T20Is. Stead knows that the people will create hype after what happened but they will look to play like a normal game.

“Certainly, being that it’s Pakistan, people will hype that up, but for us it’s no different to any other match we play against them,” he told Stuff.co.nz.

Meanwhile, Stead admitted that what happened in Pakistan, recently, was “unsettling and disappointing”.

“I think they [New Zealand squad] are OK. It was obviously unsettling and disappointing what happened in Pakistan and we certainly feel for the Pakistan cricket fraternity and fans,” he added.
