Ton-up Babar raises Central Punjab to 200-2 against Northern
RAWALPINDI: Skipper Babar Azam scored unbeaten 105 runs to help his team Central Punjab (CP) raise 200-2 against Northern in National T20 Cup.
In 11th match here at the Pindi Stadium, Babar stood out with flying colors, smashing the ball all around the park with ease and brilliance. His sixth T20 hundred accounted 11 boundaries and three sixes, making him the highest individual run-scorer this season so far.
After deciding to bat first, Babar led CP with the help of openers scored 61 runs in the powerplay. Ahmed supported his skipper Babar at the crease and gave full entertainment followed by five boundaries to Sohail Tanvir in a powerplay over.
Ahmed fell when CP was at 67 and he scored 37 off 20 balls with smoking eight boundaries overall.
Mohammad Akhlaq made 21 off 17 with two boundaries but couldn’t continue for long, bringing Shoaib Malik at the other end of Babar. They both scored 92 runs with Malik’s contribution of 31 runs off 21 balls laced with four boundaries.
It wasn’t a good day for Northern’s bowlers as only Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz managed to take a wicket each.
