Court bins plea seeking Ghulam Sarwar Khan’s disqualification

LAHORE: An anti-corruption court of Lahore on Thursday binned petition seeking disqualification of Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sawar Khan for having alleged fake degree, ARY News reported.

Judge Bahadur Khan heard the plea against Ghulam Sarwar Khan for allegedly having fake diploma degree.

Prosecutor anti corruption apprised the court that Sarwar received B.A degree on the basis of diploma and his credentials were found genuine in the investigation.

The minister’s counsel said plea against his client was filed to address political motives and added that the investigation also proved the allegations as baseless.

The court after hearing the arguments from the anti corruption prosecutor dismissed the plea against Ghulam Sarwar Khan.

Last year, a disqualification petition was filed against Ghulam Sarwar Khan in the Supreme Court over possessing a fake bachelor’s degree.

The minister got the degree of someone with the same name, the petition had stated.

The petition that such a person should not be given a ministry as he does not qualify to be ‘Sadiq and Ameen’.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ghulam Sarwar Khan had won election from National Assembly constituency NA-63 and NA-59 in the general elections, 2018 with a mammoth lead.

He was later given the portfolio of Ministry for Petroleum and National Resources.
