Ramiz Raja highly rates Amir, Shaheen, Husnain against England
Pakistan’s former Test captain Ramiz Raja picked Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Husnain as three frontline bowlers for Pakistan against England.
“England at their home ground is so strong and to beat them your bowling attack needs to be potent. I would pick Amir, Shaheen, and Husnain as the trio can thrash the batsmen with the new ball,” said Ramiz.
The member of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning squad asked the bowlers to think about taking a wicket on every ball. “In England taking wickets is very important as it gives you relief as a bowling unit. You have to hit hard lengths to get England batsmen out because they read the situation very quickly,” said Ramiz.
Talking about Yasir Shah, Ramiz said that the right-arm leg-spinner has failed to dominate in white ball cricket. “Yasir doesn’t have specialties with the white ball. If you compare him with Shadab Khan or Imran Tahir then he is far behind. These two bowlers have a grip on googly, wrong on and more importantly they hit the hard lengths perfectly to take wickets,” he said.
Ramiz, on the other hand, preferred Junaid Khan over Faheem Ashraf as he thinks the left-arm pacer suits the best in English conditions.
“Junaid has variation in pace while Faheem keeps on bowling at middle length with 138Kph-142Kph which becomes easy for batsmen to hit hard. I think Junaid can be lethal for the green shirts against England,” Ramiz opined.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan will play their first ODI against England on May 8. They have already clinched two of their tree tour one day games against Kent and Northamptonshire respectively.
