‘Age is irrelevant’ says James Anderson as he breaks Ian Botham record

England veteran pace bowler James Anderson has broken Sir Ian Botham record for the most five-wicket hauls taken by an England bowler and thinks that “Age is irrelevant” after finishing with 5/40 in South Africa’s first innings at Newlands, Cape Town.

The 37-year-old Anderson picked up 28th five-haul breaking Botham’s record of 27 five-fors. He wants to continue and consider that age doesn’t matter to him.

“Age is irrelevant for me, I feel good and work hard at my fitness,” He said while talking to British podcast after the second day of the second Test.

He emphasized that the challenge Test cricket brings at the cricket field, this is what he loves to be around.

“I love the challenge Test cricket brings. Putting hard work in the field, having to graft for your wickets, trying different plans and fields. This is what I love the most and pushes me to keep on playing,” He added.

Anderson is still uncertain on how long he will go and is eager to give more performances for England.
