‘Local talent, key for Karachi Kings’ in PSL’ says Imad Wasim
Karachi: Karachi Kings captain and all-rounder Imad Wasim has termed local talents as a key asset for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season five edition.
While talking to the reporters in a media session in Karachi, Imad referring to Awais Zia, Usama Mir, Amir Yamin, and Umaid Asif revealed that while picking up the squad their priority was to focus on performers of Pakistan.
“Apart from a few, all of them have played for Pakistan and they are not unsung heroes but heroes for me. Our preference in the draft was to focus on these local players because of the league taking place in Pakistan completely.
The number one T20I batsman Babar Azam has hailed King’s head coach Dean Jones as he has a vast knowledge of the PSL.
“Deano has been an integral part of PSL since the start and he knows everything about this league on how to plan according to the opposition. It’s good that we got him as a head coach” Babar said.
England’s hard-hitting batsman Alex Hales will be part of the Kings’ squad for the entire edition and is up for the challenge as a batsman keeping in mind the quality of bowling.
“This is my first time to play PSL completely as I was a part previously short stints. Really excited to face a challenge as a batter, as this tournament has the best seamers and spinners compare to others. Hopefully, I have a few runs left in the tank and help Karachi from my contributions,” Alex said.
Kiwi left-arm pacer Mitchell McClenaghan is excited to work along with the Kings’ mentor and president Wasim Akram. He is also a fan of Dean Jones as he possesses a lot of knowledge while commentating all over the world.
“I am looking forward to learning the outswing from Wasim and It will be great if he teaches me, Listening to Deano’s commentary depicts he has a lot of knowledge of the game,” Mitch said.
