PSL 5 to observe breast cancer, childhood awareness days respectively

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to observe Childhood Cancer Awareness Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Day respectively in The Pakistan Super League (PSL) just like the previous year.

The PSL season five will again hold these days in order to make another contribution in the fight against Childhood Cancer and Breast Cancer.

The Childhood Cancer Awareness Day will be observed on 22 February and the Breast Cancer Awareness Day will be marked on 7 March and on both occasions teams, match officials, players, and commentators will be involved in the support of the two campaigns.

“It is a humble contribution from the PCB in raising awareness against cancer as it is our collective responsibility to help the cause as much as possible,” PCB Cheif Executive Wasim Khan said.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Day

The Childhood Cancer Awareness Day was first observed in the PSL on 15 February 2019 in Dubai. Players, match officials, and commentators wore gold ribbons. The winning captains had shared their team shirts with a cancer patient.

This year on Saturday, 22 February, in both matches of Karachi and Lahore will observe this day.

Breast Cancer Awareness Day

The Breast Cancer Awareness Day was observed on 11 March last year at the National Stadium. Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi were the four teams who took part in the initiative.

This year, it will be observed on 7 March in both Rawalpindi and Lahore, venues of the two league matches that day.

The bails will be branded as gold and pink respectively. Awareness messages will be displayed on digital screens.

It must be noted PSL is starting from February 20 at National Stadium in Karachi with defending champions taking on Islamabad United.
