COVID enters IPL 2021’s bio-bubble again as Natarajan tests positive

Dubai: After BCCI was forced to postpone the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to positive COVID-19 cases in May, the virus has once again entered in tournament’s bio-secure bubble.

According to details, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) fast bowler T Natarajan on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19 in a scheduled RT-PCR test, BCCI said in a statement.

The board further said that Natarajan has isolated himself from the rest of the squad and is currently asymptomatic.

All-rounder Vijay Shankar is among six close contacts that are in isolation. Apart from Shankar, the other individuals are team manager Vijay Kumar, physiotherapist Shyam Sundar J, Dr. Anjana Vannan, logistics manager Tushar Khedkar and net bowler Periyasamy Ganesan.

Meanwhile, tonight’s game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals will go ahead at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.

It must be noted that the rescheduled 14th edition of IPL is taking place in UAE. The tournament will end on October 15, just two days before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup.
