PM Khan insists Mani to continue as PCB chairman: Sources
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan was satisfied with Ehsan Mani’s performance and insisted him to continue as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman.
Mani presented a report on PCB’s performance during his three-years tenure to PM Khan during their meeting at PM House on Monday. PM Khan expressed satisfaction over Mani’s performance and wants him to continue.
According to the sources, Mani refused to work with the PCB for three more years.
Meanwhile, PM inquired Mani about bidding for the ICC tournaments. Mani answered that it will take 3-4 months more. A report on the new domestic system was also presented to the Premier.
On the other hand, former Test cricketer Ramiz Raja also met PM separately. Reportedly, PM Khan will nominate him and former Board of Governors (BoG) member Jawad Sajid for the next PCB chairman.
BoG members will give votes to the nominated members and the new chairman will be elected.
It must be noted here that Mani had overthrown Najam Sethi as PCB chairman soon after Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf made government in the country in 2018.
